Providing Remote Education
Please find below, our guidance for parents about our remote learning provision.
Equal Opportunities
We actively promote equal opportunities for all, with regard to gender, race, disability and faith. The Governing Body promotes a policy that encourages pupils to respect themselves and each other, through an understanding of their own and other people’s cultures thus enabling them to contribute positively to the world in which they live.
Safeguarding
The school follows the Local Authority recommendations concerning safeguarding. We always refer a child whom we consider at risk of neglect, physical, emotional or sexual abuse to Social Care. A copy of the schools Safeguarding policy is available upon request.
Attendance
We are keen to work with parents to ensure all pupils receive their full entitlement to education. It is essential for your child’s continual progress that absences are kept to a minimum, and that pupils are in school promptly at the start of the school day. Parents are strongly recommended not to take annual holidays, dental or medical appointments during school times. If this is unavoidable you must request permission from the Headteacher by completing an Absence Form from the school office. It is important that we are kept informed about any absence from school. If your child is unable to attend school, the procedure is to phone the school on the first day of absence explaining the reason they are absent, followed by a note when the child returns to school. The school has a statutory responsibility to keep detailed records and to publish school attendance targets by the Local Authority.
Our Christian Values
These values are shared through both Collective Worship and school Ethos.
Compassion, Endurance, Justice, Thankfulness, Friendship and Forgiveness.
Illness at School
If your child becomes ill at school and is not well enough to stay we will contact you. Please ensure you keep us up to date with emergency contact numbers (mobile telephone numbers) to assist in this matter.
Medicines
Our policy follows the Department of Education and states that teachers should not administer medicines to pupils. If in exceptional circumstances a medicine does need to be given during the day we have a form that you are required to sign. If your child needs an inhaler please make sure they know how and when to use it.
School Meals
School lunches are available at school for all pupils at current prices. Pupils have a choice of main courses and desserts, with a daily vegetarian option. Pupils may bring a packed lunch if they prefer. This must be in a container, clearly named. Pupils may bring a drink, still not fizzy, and water is available to all pupils throughout the day. Good table manners and how to behave in a social group are an important part of eating together. We expect children to behave appropriately under the direction of the Midday Supervisors at lunchtime.
Free meals may be available to those who are in receipt of universal credit, job seekers allowance, income support or supported under the Immigration Act. For further information and details on how to apply please click here. If you are unable to apply online, a paper application form is available from the school office. This will be dealt with in strictest confidence.
School Closure
In the event of school being closed parents are advised to listen to BBC Radio Sussex, Heart FM and Arrow FM for information in respect of closure. The closure will also be annouced on the home page and parents will be sent a Ping. In severe weather conditions please listen to the radio and refer to the county website.
