Daily Maths Activities

 

Week Beginning Monday 1st February

Here are your Maths lessons for Year 3 and one for Year 4. Remember, if you are in Year 3 and want an extra challenge - feel free to try the Year 4 lessons! Both year groups will be starting new units this week - on fractions. Click on the link and complete your daily maths lessons.

Year 3 Year 4

Explore the whole and part relationship in familiar contexts, using area, linear and quality models

Lesson 1

Divide and describe the same whole when divided into differing numbers of equal parts

Lesson 1

Explore the whole and part relationship and generalise that a part is always smaller than the whole

Lesson 2

Understand fraction notation to represent a relationship between part and whole

Lesson 2

Explore the Concept of 'Equal' and 'Unequal' Parts

Lesson 3

Begin to use and understand the terms 'Numerator' and 'Denominator'

Lesson 3

Embed the concept of equal parts and unequal parts

Lesson 4

Name unit fractions and match them with the fraction notation and a representation

Lesson 4

Develop understanding that equal sized parts do not have to look the same

Lesson 5

Embed previous fraction work using a linear model

Lesson 5

Daily English Activities

This week, there is again lessons for both Year 3 and Year 4. The Year 3 lessons move on to a new unit - Persuasive Writing. The Year 4 lessons continue to look at the poem 'The Jabberwocky' by Lewis Carroll, building on last week's lessons. Click the links to find your daily English lessons.

Religious Education

This week, we will continue to look at the Christian Story of Creation. 

Watch the story on You Tube and/or read it in the Bible. You will find the story in the book of Genesis, Chapter 1, and Chapter 2, verses 1-17. You could also read it HERE.

Then, represent the story in your own way. You might...

  • Create a cartoon strip
  • Re-write the story in your own words
  • Draw or paint a scene from the story
  • Create a shoebox diorama of an important part of the story
  • Make some puppets and ask an adult to film a puppet show of the story that you narrate
  • Come up with your own idea!

 

Keeping Active

Whilst you are away from school, keep fit and active by undertaking some of these challenges. Send me information on your performance! You can also log in to Fitter Future and complete the suggested Daily Timetable - one workout each day - or choose any from their extensive list of workouts. You will need your username and password to access Fitter Future. If you don't remember it, you can email me and I will send it to you.
