Week 1 & 2 - Term 3 January 2021 - Archive

Here's where to find any of the work posted for the first two weeks of Term 3, just in case you want to revisit or review, or didn't have time to get to everything you wanted to.

English Lessons

writing(1)

For English, you should try to do some Grammar, some Reading lessons, and some writing.  I have put enough here for 2 weeks of work.  You may want to do a whole week of Grammar first, and then a whole week of Reading Comprehension, or you may want to 'mix and match' over 2 weeks - your choice!  Do one piece of creative writing each week based on one of the two pictures below.  You could illustrate your story or even turn it into a graphic novel format: be creative!

Week 1 & 2 - Creative Writing

Continue the story with your own ideas!

As an Egyptian princess, Nuru knew that she would have the Pharoah's attention if she told him what she had seen.  But lights that danced and spun as if they were alive, coming from the skies and disappearing with no warning?  Everyone would think she was crazy!  The High Priests - Abasi and Abrax - would have her locked up!

"No," Nuru whispered to the lights, as they warmed her hands, "you will have to be my little secret."

She knew one person, however, that she would not be able to keep herself from telling.

I couldn't believe my eyes!  Pulling back gently on the throttle, I slowed my craft so we were barely moving, drifting slightly on the current, crawling closer and closer.

It was made to look exactly like an iceberg...unless you happened to notice the glow from the kitchen window.

My heart pounded in my temples and my palms were damp in my gloves as I noticed a shadow wander across the brightly-lit room.  Could it be her?

Extra English Thinking Challenge of the Week

All of a sudden, Mrs Lloyd had an idea!  (Brilliant ideas sometimes came to her like this.)  Could her students manage this writing challenge?

Write a story where each sentence starts with the next letter in the alphabet (like the three sentences above).  Or, work backwards with your first sentence beginning with a Z word!  Send your story to Mrs Lloyd by email!

Religious Education

We will start by looking at the story of The Good Samaritan.

Watch the story on You Tube and / or read it in the Bible.  You will find the story in the book of Luke, Chapter10, verses 25-37.  You could also read it HERE

Then, represent the story in your own way.  You might...

  • Create a cartoon strip
  • Re-write the story in your own words
  • Draw or paint a scene from the story
  • Create a shoebox diorama of an important part of the story
  • Make some puppets and ask an adult to film a puppet show of the story that you narrate
  • Come up with your own idea!
