Amethyst - January Home Learning Projects

Dear Amethyst

Happy New Year! I hope you are all well.  It is sad that we can't be together for the start of the new term. Although we are not going to be physically together, I would love to hear what you have been doing and be able to share that with the rest of the class.  I have included a variety of activities to keep you busy.

In the table below are your daily English and Maths lessons for you to try.  Click on the link and it will take you to the Oak Academy, a special online 'school' with videos you can watch and activities and challenges to complete.  You can use Oak’s online classroom on any device, you don’t need to log in or remember a password. Each of Oak’s lessons is delivered by a trained teacher, over a pre-recorded video. It’s clear at the start of each session any basic materials you might need, such as pens, paper, etc.

I've also posted some Geography, Science and some RE for you to work on if you can.

There is also a grid of choices for you to look at, all related to this year's whole-school local history work about 1066 and the Battle of Hastings.  Try to do at least 3 of these over the next few weeks but if you want to do more, fantastic!

Please ensure each day, the variety of subjects are completed. If you have any queries please email me,

In this lesson, we are going to be learning about where the Earth’s six major biomes are located and how their position on the Earth impacts their climates. We conclude by considering the huge variation that exists within continents.

Lesson 2

Wednesday

In this lesson, we are going to be learning about the climatic factors and human activities that impact biomes and the ecosystems within them.

Lesson 3

Thursday

In this lesson, we are going to be learning about the climatic factors and location of the tundra. We will also learn about the flora and fauna that are present there.

  • Create a cartoon strip
  • Re-write the story in your own words
  • Draw or paint a scene from the story
  • Create a shoebox diorama of an important part of the story
  • Make some puppets and ask an adult to film a puppet show of the story that you narrate
  • Come up with your own idea!
