We take pride in the excellent behaviour in the school. This is due to our fantastic children, to the high quality of teaching and pastoral care and to our committed and hard working staff. Please see our Relationship policy which defines our policy on behaviour and relationships. We work hard to manage behaviour effectively and positively. We have recently modified our practice and have a new set of systems in place:
Positive behaviour is rewarded in a range of ways in class and throughout the school. These include praise, team points, stickers, class stars, headteacher’s awards in celebration assembly and most recently raffle tickets. The raffle tickets are given out by all members of staff around the school in response to positive behaviour of any sort, this might be good work, kindness, consideration for others. The raffle ticket stubs are collected and then a draw takes place during which children can win a gold card. The more tickets they have the more chance they have of winning. Negative behaviour is responded to with behaviour slips examples of which are shown below.
Children that do not receive any negative behaviour slips are awarded a certificate at the end of each term.
Negative behaviour slips are given out using the following criteria. These descriptions are guides only.
Behaviour Level | Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 |
Behaviour | Inappropriate noise, poor concentration, impertinence, poor working practice, disrespect for people or property | Repeated behaviour identified in level 1. More extreme examples. | Repeated behaviour identified in level 2. Violence towards pupils or adult. Dangerous behaviour. Extreme insolence, swearing or disrespect. |
